Let me share with you an infographic from those smart guys over at Frugaldad.
The problem in a nutshell: patents are a 19th century solution to 21st century problems.
It made sense when ideas and innovation were the domain of the select few in society who were even functionally literate and entire industries were owned by a very small number of families.
But in an age where nearly everyone has the means and the tools to create and the availability of off-the-shelf components has never been so plentiful, we all lose to what amounts to opportunistic profiteering.
